The Wild Center Welcomes World-Renowned Recycle Artist Thomas Dambo for a Special Evening of Storytelling

Tupper Lake, N.Y. – On Thursday, September 10, The Wild Center invites guests to spend an evening with internationally acclaimed Danish recycle artist Thomas Dambo for storytelling and conversation. The event will take place at the Tupper Lake Bandshell in Flanders Park at 6:00 p.m., with a book signing to follow.
The visit comes as The Wild Center celebrates the success of TROLLS: Save the Humans, the internationally touring exhibition that has welcomed record attendance to the museum throughout the summer. The exhibition features six of Dambo's larger-than-life troll sculptures hidden throughout The Wild Center's campus, each encouraging visitors to reconnect with nature while considering how their everyday choices affect the planet.
"Thomas's work reminds us that imagination can change the way we see both nature and the materials we often overlook," said Nick Gunn, Director of Marketing & Visitor Experience at The Wild Center. "His trolls invite people outdoors, spark curiosity, and encourage all of us to become better stewards of the places we love. We're thrilled to welcome Thomas to the Adirondacks to share the stories behind his incredible work."
Often described as the world's leading recycle artist, Dambo has created nearly 200 monumental troll sculptures across the globe, from dense forests and coastal landscapes to deserts and urban parks. Each sculpture is built primarily from reclaimed wood and recycled materials, bringing new life to what others have thrown away.
During the evening, Dambo will share the journey that transformed a passion for building with discarded materials into a global movement for creativity, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. He'll offer a behind-the-scenes look at his creative process and the adventures of building trolls around the world, with a message that's simple but powerful: waste no more.
Gates open at Flanders Park at 5:00 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:00 p.m. Dambo will be available for a book signing following the talk, and the program will conclude at 8:00 p.m. Books can be purchased in advance at The Wild Supply Co. at The Wild Center, online at shop.wildcenter.org, or at the event.
Tickets are limited and cost $25 for reserved seating in a section near the stage, with chairs provided, or $15 for lawn access. Lawn access ticket holders are encouraged to bring their own chair or blanket for seating. Children ages four and under are free. Tickets can be purchased online at wildcenter.org/events/dambotalk.
