Trolls, Landscapes, and the Nearly Full Moon Photography Tour with Carl Heilman II

Join Adirondack photographer Carl Heilman II for an afternoon and evening, photographing late fall landscapes in the golden hour and sunset light, and then photographing Thomas Dambo’s Trolls under the moon light. Viewing the trolls in daylight is quite special, but photographing them under the moonlight, highlighted with artificial light is a unique experience. Bring along a headlamp (or two or more), and a good sturdy tripod. The moon rises at 4:55 PM, an hour before the 5:56 PM sunset, so there should be a good variety of afternoon landscape photo ops in addition to the moonlit trails for accessing and photographing the trolls through the evening hours.
Photographer, Carl Heilman II, has been photographing the Adirondacks since the mid 1970's and has been working with digital images since 1997. He has led photo workshops since the early 1990's and has been presenting photography workshops in Brant Lake since 1997 through Wild Visions, Inc. His coffee table books on the Adirondacks, Lake George, New York State, and Maine have been published by Rizzoli, Voyageur Press, and North Country Books. His AV programs have aired on regional PBS stations, and he was interviewed for the May 2008 national PBS special, 'The Adirondacks'. He has written three ‘how-to’ photography techniques books in addition to, ‘Photographing the Adirondacks’, a regional guidebook to more than 200 photo locations throughout the Adirondack Park.
Carl brings over 50 years of photo experience and enthusiasm for the many different aspects of photography to each workshop. A maximum of 12 participants allows plenty of opportunities for individual interaction throughout the day.
The workshop fee includes all instruction and any handouts - but does not include lodging or additional meals. Please bring along whatever you would like for food and drink through the day. The workshop begins in the conference room at The Wild Center. We will carpool as needed to photo locations.
