Adirondack Water Week

August 1–9, 2026

Now in its seventh year, Adirondack Water Week celebrates the waters that support the Adirondacks' ecology, recreation, and communities. See the schedule below.

Enjoy additional programming throughout the week to celebrate Adirondack Water Week! There will also be opportunities to chat with the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation and the Adirondack Watershed Institute.

Free Mini Paddle Trips

Canoes and kayaks available

Dates: August 1, 2, 6*, 8, and 9 — 1:00–4:00 PM

*Aug 6: trips reserved for When Waters Rise conference participants, but the public is welcome to join if space allows!

  • Trips depart on the half hour: 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30 PM
  • Each trip runs 15–20 minutes
  • Please arrive at least 5 minutes early to sign up and complete a waiver
  • Trips leave from the docks

When Waters Rise: Adirondack Flooding Risk, Response, and Resilience

About Paddle Trips

Guided Canoe and Kayak Trips
offered July 1 to September 7, 2026, from 1 to 3 pm

Note: trips are free and drop-in on August 1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th, 9th

Spend a relaxing afternoon on the Raquette River with a NYS Licensed Guide and Wild Center Naturalist. After a brief safety and paddling overview, we’ll embark on an interpretive paddle around the Oxbow, a unique river formation found around the world. Along the way, you'll catch glimpses of native wildlife and learn about the natural and cultural history of the Adirondacks.

Guided canoe and kayak trips are offered July 1 to September 7, beginning at 1 pm at our Boat Docks, located 1/3 mile from the parking lot over rolling terrain. Please plan to arrive at The Wild Center by 12 pm to accommodate check-in and allow enough time to walk to the river.

This trip is designed for all paddling skill levels. Children must be at least 5 years old to participate. Each canoe can accommodate up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and up to 2 children (ages 5–12).

Canoe (per boat):

  • Members: $40
  • Non-members: $50

Kayak (per boat):

  • Members: $20
  • Non-members: $30

Capacity: 4 canoes and 5 kayaks available per trip
Note: Wild Center admission is required to participate and must be purchased separately. You can purchase admission online here.
