An educator professional development opportunity.
Join educators from Native Knowledge 360°, the education initiative of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, at The Wild Center for an in-depth professional development experience focused on the classroom-ready resource American Revolution: Haudenosaunee Perseverance.
This interactive, standards-aligned resource explores how the Haudenosaunee Confederacy (Mohawk, Oneida, Tuscarora, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca nations) persevered during and after the American Revolution. The program begins with invited speakers discussing the roles of women in Haudenosaunee society, diplomacy, and decision-making, offering deeper insight into Haudenosaunee experiences.
Participants will then explore how to use this nationally available digital inquiry resource in the classroom. The resource engages students with video interviews, primary and secondary sources, original maps, and images to investigate the question: In what ways did the Haudenosaunee persevere through and after the American Revolution?
Attendees will also enjoy guided tours of The Wild Center. Certificates of participation and CTLE credit will be available.
Limited spots, registration required.
Cost: $35 per individual (scholarships available, email jkretser@wildcenter.org)
