statement: As a founding member of virocode\, a collaborative practice pro
ducing artwork since 1987\, I have spent nearly four decades exploring the
se liminal spaces where transformation occurs. Through virocode\, my inves
tigation of symbiotic relationships between the organic and the inorganic
has taken our work from MoMA to international exhibitions and to local and
regional immersive experiences\, always with an open question about our c
ollective relationship to the Anthropocene. My art practice operates at the
  intersection of artmaking\, collaboration\, and education\, informed by a
philosophy that values process over product. Through my 24-year tenure as
teacher and Art Department Chair at Nichols School\, teaching became part
of my artmaking practice. Teaching allowed me to translate these collabor
ative principles into transformative educational experiences\, creating co
mprehensive exhibition and collection programs while fostering lasting par
tnerships that extend far beyond the classroom. In my work with collective
s including virocode and the Artsy Lobby\, I have used my experience as a
teacher to build public artworks and programming that engage the public in
the world of artmaking\, connecting the process to the experience of seei
ng and learning about artwork through photography\, video\, installation\,
  and bio-art works.\n\n\n\nMusic: Slough Creek\n\n\nSlough Creek is a Sara
nac Lake\, NY-based Americana band defined by tight harmonies and hold-ont
o-your-hat instrumental breaks. With songs rooted in place\, Slough Creek
transports listeners to the sagebrush steppe of Wyoming\, woodland streams
of the Midwest\, salt marsh flats of New England\, and the sloughs\, fens
\, bogs\, and mires of their Adirondack home.\n\nSlough Creek is led by si
nger-songwriter Charlie Reinertsen on vocals and rhythm guitar. Marion Hoe
lzel provides intricate countermelodies on the banjo while singing harmoni
es that breathe life into each song. Bill Chamberlain provides the pepper
and sizzle with dazzling mandolin work\, and Jon Zander holds the entire b
and together through tight bass and masterful instrumental arrangements. B
rought together by their love of wild places and the power of a good tune\
 , their music bridges contemporary roots music traditions.\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;
