Paddle the Oxbow: Guided Canoe Trip
Spend a relaxing afternoon on the Raquette River with a NYS Licensed Guide and Wild Center Naturalist. After a brief safety and paddling overview, we’ll embark on an interpretive paddle around the Oxbow, a unique river formation found around the world. Along the way, you'll catch glimpses of native wildlife and learn about the natural and cultural history of the Adirondacks.

Guided canoe trips are offered Sundays in June and daily in July and August, beginning at 1:00pm at our Canoe Docks, located 1/3 mile from the parking lot over rolling terrain. Please plan to arrive at The Wild Center by 12:00pm to accommodate check-in and allow enough time to walk to the river.

This trip is designed for all paddling skill levels. Children must be at least 5 years old to participate. Each canoe can accommodate up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and up to 2 children (ages 5–12).

Pricing (per canoe):

  • Members: $30 per boat

  • Non-members: $45 per boat

Capacity: 5 canoes available per trip
Note: Wild Center admission is required to participate and must be purchased separately.

Please determine the number of canoes your group needs and register in advance. Space is limited!
