In each three-hour class you will grow your art skills and learn new techniques in areas such as watercolor, pastels, and mixed media. Every week features a different focus and offers new skills, so sign up for one or more.  Museum admission is not included. Space is limited to twelve people per class, so please register soon. Basic materials are included.

Meet The Wild Center’s Blue Jay, Lady Jay, while we learn to closely observe animal characteristics while focusing on drawing and painting techniques to represent a realistic bird. This workshop will be a beginners look at bird identification and Kerri Ziemann, a Wild Center Staff, will guide you through a step-by-step process looking, learning and discovering more about Adirondack Birds. We will be refining our observation skills to help us notice new details like the subtle color change on feathers or the unique way a birds legs help it balance. We will learn much like Scientists and explorers have used art throughout the ages to open their eyes to the wonders of the natural world. Come and let your creativity soar! No prior watercolor experience is necessary.

Kerri Ziemann joined the education staff at The Wild Center in the winter of 2007 and is currently the Program Director. Kerri has a dual background in Art Studio and Outdoor Education and strives to find personal ways of connecting visitors to the Adirondack Park and inhabitants.
