Art in the Park: Natural Silk Dyeing with Cris Winters ←
- This event has passed.
Join The Wild Center this summer to awaken your talents in celebration of art and nature in the Adirondacks. Monday mornings in July and August, come explore the natural world with experienced Adirondack artists. In each three-hour class you will grow your art skills and learn new art techniques in areas such as watercolor, pastels, and mixed media. Every week features a different focus and offers new skills, so sign up for one or more. Museum admission is not included. Space is limited to twelve people per class, so please register soon. Basic materials are included.
Using textile paints, we will print on fabric and paper with freshly-collected plants and other materials. After some practice prints, a silk scarf will be provided for printing and a final treatment with silk dye will result in a beautiful and useable piece of art.
Artist Cris Winters began her art explorations in watercolor painting and natural science illustration, then moved on to mixed media collage with paper and then to fine art fabric work. Her work continues to frequently incorporate several types of media. Ms. Winters is the owner of the gallery and studio art at the Pink House, 25 Woodruff Street, Saranac Lake, NY.
