In our ongoing commitment to maintain public health and safety, The Wild Center is temporarily suspending public operations until further notice in an effort to help combat the coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic. Instead, we are shifting our offerings to a digital experience.

Until our buildings re-open to the public, we warmly welcome you to visit us online at Wildcenter.org and enjoy our many webcams of the surrounding Adirondack wilderness as well as our Virtual Visit. We remain committed to connecting people with nature, so the extensive trail network on The Wild Center’s Tupper Lake campus will remain open for your use and enjoyment provided visitors maintain at least six feet of social distance for safety.

Please know that our many animals will continue to be well cared for during our closure, and a limited number of essential staff will report to work to provide animal care and safely operate all critical facilities related to their well-being.  We will also be offering innovative and educational online content – from both our Animal Care staff when on-site and our program staff who are now working remotely. Follow us on social media for daily digital animal encounters and fun activities you can do in your own backyard at 12 pm EST. Additionally, we will be offering free, educational distance learning programs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am EST with Wild Center educators and Animal Care staff.

For our members who have made a choice to help others fall in love with nature, we thank you, and will honor and automatically extend your membership through our reopening to the public.

While it is difficult to predict how long the current situation will last, there is one thing that is for certain – when this is behind us, we will have a greater need than ever to get outside and appreciate the natural world around us.

During these unprecedented times, we are able to continue to operate our facility as necessary, thanks in large part to you, our members, and our partners. We appreciate your support day-in and day-out. Be well!
