Take in the changing leaves from an entirely new perspective this year up on Wild Walk, bringing you closer than ever before to fall’s splendor. During your visit, there are plenty of other ways to leaf peep on our 115-acre campus, including walking through sound in Forest Music.

Ever been curious about the science behind why the leaves change each fall? As a science center and natural history museum, opportunities for one-on-one engagement with our on-staff naturalists mean you can learn all about the science of why the leaves change and the many factors that impact how and when they do so.

Every Saturday and Sunday in September and into early October, join a Wild Center guide and explore all of autumn’s glory by way of canoe during Autumn Outings on the Raquette River. Leaf peep from a unique vantage point as you glide across the water, see wildlife up close, and explore the varied habitats of the Raquette River Oxbow.

Experience a play ground that thinks outside the box. No plastic slides or swings here – the Pines Wild Play Area is straight out of nature. Kids can climb on a tipped up tree, play with piles of sticks, or beat on log drums in this perfectly natural clearing in the woods. And we can only guess what kids’ imaginations might dream up.

Daily Creature Features provide the perfect opportunity to get even more face time in with our resident animal ambassadors – from birds and porcupines, to river otters. Creature Features happen daily at 10:30am and 1:30pm. Visit our calendar for more details.
