VISITING SARANAC LAKE?
Come see what USA Today calls a "must see"
Saranac Lake is located in the middle of a great natural wonder, and there is one place designed to help you see more of the nature of the Adirondacks, from live river otters to stunning high definition films.
The Wall Street Journal called The Wild Center "glorious" and The New York Times called it "stunning". Built by the same firm that designed the Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C., you'll see what all the buzz is about the moment you enter the museum's vaulted Big Wolf Great Hall overlooking Greenleaf Pond.
The scenic drive from Saranac Lake to the Center is among the prettiest in the park. It takes you past the Saranac lakes and the old growth forest near Ampersand Brook.
The Wild Center's award-winning experience will help you see into the wild world around you. You can explore the 31- acre campus with naturalist guides or on your own, and in the winter there are free snowshoes for you to enjoy. There are theaters with high definition films, plenty of hands-on activities and hundreds of live animals for you to meet. Come see for yourself why the Boston Globe called it "the place to go".
