Science Saturday: Death and Decay – Fungi in the Forest, with Susan Hopkins ←
- This event has passed.
Death. Decay. Destruction. Fungi do all these things. Underneath their dainty caps and stalks is a vast network of threads, connecting the forest in a cycle of give and take; life and death. Fungi play a crucial role in the ecosystem, recycling matter and boosting life. Join amateur mycologist Susan Hopkins as she sheds light on these fascinating forest residents.
This Fall, Science Saturdays will take you on adventures of discovery. Take a deep dive into the cool, the creepy, and the just plain weird things that lie just beneath the surface of the forest. At each Science Saturday, specialists from the community and from The Wild Center’s staff will introduce an exciting topic with a brief talk in the Great Hall, followed by a hands-on activity on our campus. Come for a few minutes or stay for an hour as you get your hands dirty and discover something new and exciting.
